We stock and install PGT door parts and full door systems across Santa Clarita, with most hinge, roller, and weatherseal replacements running between $185 and $425 installed, and full PGT sliding door or swing door installations typically falling between $1,400 and $3,800 depending on size and glass package. Same-week scheduling is standard for us, and we carry common PGT rollers, handles, locks, and weatherstripping on the truck. Most owners call us after noticing a patio door that grinds, sticks at one end of the track, or lets a thin ribbon of Santa Clarita dust settle on the floor every afternoon when the wind picks up out of the canyon.
One thing worth saying before we go further: Lightwell Windows Santa Clarita is an independent service provider, not affiliated with PGT corporate. We’re a local Cedarwell location, and we’ve built our repair bench around the brands homeowners in this valley actually have, PGT chief among them.
Which PGT Models This Applies To
PGT makes several sliding door and hinged patio door lines, and what fits one rarely fits another without modification. In Santa Clarita, the doors we see most often are from the PGT 5500 and 7700 slider lines, along with the ClassicVue and WinGuard series. The WinGuard doors are impact-rated, which matters if your home sits up in the hills where wind gusts are a daily fact rather than a rare event.
The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: PGT changed roller hardware dimensions between production years, and a 2012 ClassicVue slider roller assembly will not seat properly in a 2019 frame even though the doors look identical from the outside. The way to confirm what you have is to look for the PGT etching in the corner of the glass or the aluminum data sticker along the door’s side jamb. That sticker lists the series, glass make-up, and often the manufacture date. We read those before we order anything, because ordering blind is how a $90 roller job becomes a $400 mistake.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for rollers, locks, and handles on PGT doors, we’ll use PGT OEM parts whenever the door is still under the manufacturer’s coverage window, and we’ll tell you plainly if an aftermarket equivalent from a brand like Prime-Line or Truth Hardware will perform just as well for less. On impact-rated WinGuard doors, we stay with OEM parts, no exceptions. Your glass rating assumes the hardware meets the same standard, and we won’t quietly swap in a cheaper part that undercuts that.
We also keep parts compatibility in mind for the other brands we service, including CGI, CWS, and ES Windows, since many Santa Clarita homes have a mix of door brands across the back of the house.

Signs Your PGT Door Installation Is Failing
- The door moves in a stutter instead of a glide. This is almost always a roller problem. PGT rollers have sealed bearings that eventually pick up grit from the track, and once the bearing binds, the wheel flat-spots and the door starts dragging.
- You can see daylight at a corner when the door is closed. The weatherstrip or the interlock along the meeting stile has compressed or torn, and on a PGT door that has been in a Santa Clarita sun-facing wall for eight or ten years, the seal material is typically hardened to the point of cracking.
- The handle lifts but the latch doesn’t retract fully. PGT uses a multi-point lock on most of their swing doors and some sliders, and the internal tie bar connecting the handle to the top and bottom shoot bolts can work loose over time.
- The door is level but still hits the frame at the top or bottom. Steel roller axles can bend slightly, and on heavily-used patio doors in homes with kids and dogs going in and out all day, that bent axle translates to a door that no longer sits square in the opening.
- You hear a metal-on-metal scrape every time the door moves. The track itself may be gouged. We see this on older PGT doors where the original rollers were never cleaned, and the worn wheel ate a groove into the aluminum track over several years.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what you can expect to pay in Santa Clarita, with the caveat that every home and every door is different enough that we give a written line-item price before we touch anything.
| Service | Typical Installed Price Range | What It Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Roller replacement (pair) | $185 – $285 | Two PGT-matched rollers, track cleaning, door re-alignment |
| Handle and lock set replacement | $165 – $320 | New PGT or equivalent handle, latch, and lock cylinder if needed |
| Weatherstrip and interlock seal replacement | $140 – $260 | All perimeter seals, including the difficult meeting-stile interlock |
| Full PGT slider installation (new door) | $1,400 – $3,800 | Door, frame, threshold, hardware, installation, haul-off of old door, finish trim inside and out |
| Full PGT swing patio door installation | $1,800 – $4,200 | Depending on glass, size, and whether the rough opening needs adjustment |
The range is driven by three things: door size, glass package, and whether the existing rough opening is square and sound. A standard 6-foot slider with clear glass is at the lower end. An 8-foot impact-rated door with tinted glass and a sagging header that needs reinforcement sits higher. What doesn’t change is how we price: you get the written number before the work starts, and the number does not grow at the end of the job. If we find something mid-install that needs attention, we stop, explain, and put the change in writing before continuing. That’s the Cedarwell Care Promise, and it’s been how we operate since 2010.
Every PGT part replacement we install carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the door doesn’t roll, latch, or seal right within a year of our repair, we make it right. No debate, no countdown clock.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do a few things before calling: wipe down the track with a dry cloth, check for obvious debris in the bottom track channel, and look at whether any screws on the handle are visibly loose. Those checks cost you nothing and sometimes solve a minor symptom.
Where DIY goes wrong is lifting a PGT slider out of its track to inspect the rollers. These are heavy tempered glass panels, often 150 to 200 pounds, and a door that slips while you’re muscling it out can take a chunk out of the flooring, the wall, or your foot. If your PGT door is a WinGuard impact-rated unit, the glass is even heavier, and the panel is not something two people should casually wrestle out of the frame without the right lift technique and a padded support. There’s also a real risk of bending the roller adjustment screws or losing the small clips that keep the panel from hopping the track. When it’s physical and awkward rather than technical, we’d rather come out and do it right the first time.
If you’re in Santa Clarita and the door needs attention, call us at (661) 430-5327 and describe what the door is doing. Keith or one of the team will tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a $200 roller job or something bigger, and the estimate to confirm is free.
FAQs
A roller or weatherstrip replacement on a PGT slider usually takes 60 to 90 minutes once we’re on site. A full new PGT door installation is typically a one-day job, occasionally a day and a half if the existing opening needs reframing. Call (661) 430-5327 and we’ll give you a realistic window for your specific door.
Yes, in most cases the door itself is fine and the failure is in the hardware: rollers, handle, lock, or seals. We replace the failed part and align the door, and the panel goes back to gliding. A full replacement is only called for when the glass is damaged, the frame is bent or corroded, or the door no longer meets the impact-rating requirements for your area. For an honest assessment of your specific PGT door, call (661) 430-5327.
We keep common PGT slider rollers, handles, latch sets, and weatherstrip profiles on the service truck, so most repairs are completed on the first visit. Less common parts, especially WinGuard impact-rated hardware, may take a few days to bring in from our supplier. When you call, we’ll ask for the sticker information on your door’s side jamb so we can confirm what we need before we arrive.
If the PGT part we installed fails or the door stops working correctly within a year of the repair, we return and fix it at no charge. That covers the part and our labor. If the failure is from a separate issue, we’ll tell you plainly and price it the same way we price everything: in writing, before work begins.
No. Our technicians wear shoe covers inside your home, put down drop cloths where they work, and take a photo of the cleaned area before they leave. The C.A.R.E. values are specific on this: Clean up like it is our own home. If the door is in a room where your kids nap or your dog likes to patrol, we ask about timing and keep it quiet when we can.
