We install and service ECO Window Systems doors throughout Santa Clarita, and most full door installations run between $2,800 and $6,500 depending on size, glass package, and whether the existing frame needs rework. If your ECO door is binding, leaking, or sagging on its hinges, we can usually diagnose it in one visit and have the replacement ordered within days. The way most Santa Clarita homeowners discover a problem is subtle: a door that suddenly needs a shoulder to close in July, or a draft near the threshold that wasn’t there last winter. What starts as a minor annoyance is almost always the frame, weatherstripping, or hinge alignment telling you the installation itself has begun to fail.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To
ECO Window Systems builds two main door lines we see regularly in Santa Clarita homes: the Series 500 hinged patio door and the Series 700 multi-slide door system. The Series 500 is the workhorse, typically a 6’8″ or 8’0″ slab with a foam-filled frame and a compression weather seal. The Series 700 is the wider, heavier system that rides on tandem stainless rollers, and it’s the one that gives owners the most trouble as it ages because the roller carriages wear unevenly in our dry climate. The compatibility gotcha with ECO doors is the sill profile: the Series 500 uses a 3-1/2″ raised sill while the Series 700 uses a low-profile 2″ sill, so the part numbers don’t cross between lines.
When we come out, Keith Yamada checks the label on the hinge edge of the door panel first. ECO stamps the series number, the glass package code, and the manufacture date right there. That label tells us whether you need an OEM replacement part or whether a quality aftermarket equivalent from our parts bench will match. For rollers, weatherstripping, and hinges, aftermarket parts from Caldwell or Truth often fit ECO doors and cost 30-40% less than OEM. For anything involving the multi-point lock or the glass unit itself, we order ECO OEM parts specifically, because the tolerance on those is tight and aftermarket versions tend to bind.
Lightwell Windows Santa Clarita is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, but we install and service their doors alongside product from PGT, CGI, CWS, and other manufacturers we stock parts for.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Door Installation Is Failing
- The door scrapes the header or drags on the sill. This usually means the hinges or roller carriages are worn, which allows the panel to drop a few millimeters. In Santa Clarita’s heat, the aluminum frame also expands enough to close that gap, which is why it shows up in summer first.
- You can see daylight at the corner or along the latch side. The weatherstripping has compressed past its useful life, or the frame itself has shifted in the opening. Either way, air is moving through, and your energy bill in August will reflect it.
- The door locks but doesn’t feel seated. A multi-point lock that doesn’t fully throw means the panel is misaligned in the frame. The lock may still turn, but the shoot bolts aren’t finding their keepers.
- You hear a rattle when the door closes, or a dull thud where there used to be a solid sound. Loose glazing beads or a failed seal between the glass unit and the frame create that hollow vibration. It’s not just noise – it means the insulated glass unit may be losing its argon fill.
- The door is suddenly harder to lock at night or after a rain. Water intrusion is swelling the frame or corroding the threshold support. We see this on older ranch-style homes near Newhall where irrigation overspray hits the threshold for years.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a standard Series 500 hinged ECO door in a 6’8″ opening, most Santa Clarita replacements run between $2,800 and $4,200 installed. A Series 700 multi-slide door, or any door with impact glass, runs $4,500 to $6,500 depending on panel count and track length. The range comes down to three things: whether the existing frame is square and reusable, what glass package the original door used, and whether we’re replacing the whole unit or rebuilding the panel with new hinges, rollers, and weatherstripping.
Every quote from Lightwell Windows Santa Clarita is a written, line-item price before any work starts. The parts cost, labor hours, haul-away for the old door, and the finish work are all spelled out. There is no invoice surprise at the end of the day, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation: if something isn’t right, we make it right. No debate, no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things a Santa Clarita owner can safely check before calling us. You can look at the hinge screws and see if they’re pulling out of the frame. You can run a dollar bill along the weatherstripping to find where the seal is broken. You can watch the gap at the top corner as you slowly open the door to see if the panel is sagging. All of that is useful information to have when we arrive.
What you shouldn’t do is attempt to remove the door panel yourself. ECO Series 500 panels run 180 to 220 pounds, and a Series 700 panel can easily exceed 300 pounds. When a panel comes off its hinges without a second person and a proper lift plan, it drops hard, and it takes fingers, floors, and door frames with it. We use panel lifters and two-person crews on every ECO door removal, plus shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit. If the door is at the point where it’s binding or the frame is visibly out of square, call us at (661) 430-5327 rather than testing it further.
FAQs
An ECO door in Santa Clarita typically lasts 15 to 20 years before the frame, glazing, or hardware needs replacement. Our dry, hot summers and the fine dust that blows through the valley accelerate weatherstripping wear, so seals often need replacement around year 8 to 10 even if the frame is still fine. Call (661) 430-5327 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your door needs a seal replacement or a full install – estimates are free.
It depends on what failed. Hinges, rollers, weatherstripping, and lock mechanisms can almost always be rebuilt with OEM or quality aftermarket parts. If the frame is warped or the insulated glass has failed, replacement is usually the better investment. We will show you both options with written prices for each.
A standard Series 500 hinged door swap takes one day, including haul-away and clean-up. A Series 700 multi-slide replacement takes two days because the track has to be reset and the panels re-aligned. We’ll tell you before we start which one yours is, and we respect nap times and quiet hours while we work.
We keep the most common ECO Series 500 and Series 700 parts on the truck: rollers, hinge sets, weatherstripping, strike plates, and lock hardware. Oddball sizes or impact-glazed panels come direct from ECO and usually take 5 to 10 business days to reach Santa Clarita. Call (661) 430-5327 with your model number and we’ll tell you what’s on hand before you schedule anything.
