CGI window installation in Santa Clarita typically runs $900 – $1,700 per opening for full-frame replacement, including the window itself, installation, and haul-away of the old unit. We stock the most-worn CGI components on our trucks, so most repairs or replacements are completed the same day we arrive. Homeowners usually discover a problem the first morning the temperature drops below 45°F: condensation that won’t wipe away, a draft at the sill, or a lock that no longer lines up. Sometimes it’s quieter than that. A window that has worked for years suddenly doesn’t close with the same solid feel, like a car door whose hinges have worn just enough that you notice it every time.
Which CGI Models This Applies To
CGI builds impact-rated windows and doors, and the installation differences between their lines matter. The Sentinel series, Estate Collection, and the Classic line each use slightly different frame depths and anchoring points. If your home was built between 1998 and 2015 in neighborhoods like Valencia or Saugus, you’re most likely dealing with an older Estate or Classic unit, and those often have frame screws located differently than the current production models. The easiest way to identify what you have is to open the sash and look in the lower corner channel: CGI stamps a four-letter code there, like C-W-S-T or E-S-T-2, which tells us the series, glazing, and whether it’s a flange-mount or block-fit frame. For Santa Clarita’s hot, dry summers and cold winter mornings, we typically recommend replacing hinges and balance hardware with OEM-spec CGI parts rather than generic aftermarket ones. The aftermarket balances we’ve tested don’t hold tension the same way in late summer, when a day can swing from 38°F at 6 a.m. to 96°F by 2 p.m. That temperature spread makes cheap hardware fail early. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with CGI. We simply install and service more of their windows in this valley than almost anyone, and we’ve learned which parts work the first time.

Signs Your CGI Window Installation Is Failing
- Condensation between the panes. That’s a failed IG (insulated glass) seal. The desiccant inside the spacer has absorbed all the moisture it can. Once that cloudiness appears, it doesn’t reverse. The glass needs a replacement sash or full unit, depending on the frame condition. We see this most often on windows with western exposure in Castaic and Stevenson Ranch, where the afternoon sun stress is brutal.
- Draft at the sill, even when locked. The weatherstripping on the bottom rail of the sash has compressed or torn. This is usually a simple part swap: new pile weatherstrip or a compression gasket. But if the draft is at the frame corners instead, the rough opening may have shifted, and that’s a heavier repair.
- The sash drops when you let go. The spiral or block-and-tackle balances have lost tension. CGI windows use specific balance ratings for each sash weight. We carry the common ratings on the truck, so this is typically a same-visit fix. If you hear a grinding noise when raising or lowering, a balance tube has cracked internally, and it needs attention before it damages the side jamb.
- The lock or multi-point hardware doesn’t engage. This is a security issue more than a comfort issue. The receiver plate or the lock mechanism can drift out of alignment, especially if the window was adjusted during a prior service call. It’s often a five-minute adjustment. But if the lock body itself has worn internally, that’s a hardware replacement, not an adjustment.
- Visible daylight at the meeting rail or a window that “rattles” in wind. The frame has shifted or the sash is no longer square. On canyon-facing homes in Placerita or Sand Canyon, wind gusts are real. A proper reinstallation with the right shim placement fixes this. A quick re-caulking doesn’t.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Santa Clarita, full CGI window replacement generally runs between $900 and $1,700 per opening, installed. The spread comes down to a few things: the series you have, the size of the unit, whether it’s a single hung or casement, and whether the opening needs repair. A direct sash replacement or hardware repair is significantly less, usually $140 – $390, because we’re not touching the frame. What that price always includes is this: the part or window itself, our labor, and haul-off of the old unit or hardware. It also includes the written quote, which you’ll get before any work starts. No one walks into your home, finds “unexpected damage,” and hands you a bigger number at the end. We write the price down first. Every installation is backed by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished work isn’t right, we make it right, no debate, no countdown. Our crew also follows the C.A.R.E. values on site: Clean up like it’s our own home, Ask before moving or touching anything, Respect your family’s time and quiet hours, and Explain the price before the work.
DIY or Call Us?
Some things on a CGI window you can absolutely check yourself. Open the sash and look at the weatherstripping. If it’s visibly flattened or torn, that’s found. Check the lock alignment. Is the receiver plate loose? Can you see wear on the lock pawl? It’s fine to look. But do not attempt to replace balances, springs, or full sashes on your own. Those components are under constant tension. A spring or balance that releases unexpectedly can cause serious hand or facial injury. We’ve repaired more than a few windows where a homeowner started with the right intention and ended up with a bent frame track or a shattered sash. If the issue is more than a loose screw or dead weatherstrip, call us at (661) 430-5327. If you’re not sure whether the problem is simple or serious, call us anyway. We’d rather talk you through looking at your window for two minutes than quote a more expensive repair later. Keith Yamada and the crew will give you a straight answer about what you’re dealing with before anyone picks up a tool.
FAQs
In Santa Clarita’s climate, expect 15 – 25 years from the frame, 10 – 18 years from the glass seal, and 5 – 12 years from the operating hardware like balances and hinges. Homes with full western exposure, like many in Stevenson Ranch and western Valencia, tend to sit at the lower end because the glass gets hot enough that seal failure accelerates. If your windows are approaching that age and you notice any of the symptoms above, call (661) 430-5327 for an honest assessment. Estimates are free.
In most cases, hardware like balances, hinges, locks, and weatherstripping can be replaced individually without replacing the entire window. The exceptions are a failed glass seal or a frame that has warped or shifted. We would rather repair than replace when that serves your home. Call (661) 430-5327 and describe what you’re seeing, and we can tell you over the phone whether a repair is likely to do it or a replacement is the better call.
A hardware replacement or single sash swap is usually a one-to-two-hour visit. A full window replacement is typically a half-day per window, and we only start once the written price is agreed to. We work around nap times and school drop-offs when you tell us to. For an exact timeline on your specific window, call (661) 430-5327.
We keep the most common CGI balances, weatherstrips, lock sets, and hinge assemblies in our trucks when we come out to Santa Clarita, because we’d rather resolve most issues in one trip. Less common parts are ordered directly from the manufacturer and usually arrive within a few business days. We also work with PGT, CWS, and ES Windows parts on the same basis, so if your home has a mix of hurricane-rated brands, we can handle the whole call in one visit. Call (661) 430-5327 and we can confirm availability before we head your way.
